Coding Sequence (CDS). Coding sequences (CDS) are sequences present in the primary transcript and in the mature mRNA that are translated into protein sequences.
Coding sequences are highlighted in red in the primary transcript in the middle of the figure, in the mature mRNA at the bottom of the figure, and in the corresponding region of the genome at the top of the figure.
